We are delighted to share the success of our Prize Day on 26 June 2025, marking a wonderful conclusion to the 2024-25 school year. Prize Day is a special occasion to celebrate achievement and a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the educational journeys of all our students, especially for those in Year 6 with their graduation ceremony taking place.
Parents, teachers, family, and friends gathered with us at Y Studio in Chai Wan. The ceremony not only allowed us to celebrate the year but also to look forward to the futures of our young students as they progress into a new year filled with challenges and learning experiences.
Here are some of the most memorable moments from our Prize Day in 2025.
Preparation and Anticipation
Our Prize Day preparations commenced weeks in advance, from venue arrangements to programme logistics.
All teachers nominated the prizes to be presented during the event based on Achievement or on Academic success in our end of year assessments. Special preparations were made for the graduating students of Year 6, who wore graduation gowns for this important occasion.
Our Year 1 to Year 5 choir rehearsed for weeks leading up to Prize Day. From singing to choreography, they put in tremendous effort to present a beautiful set of songs for all attendees to enjoy.
The anticipation built as the day approached; students and teachers alike were eagerly looking forward to the ceremony and celebration.
Special Guests and Speakers
As part of this special celebration, we were honoured to welcome Dr K Chan from the Education University of Hong Kong as our VIP guest. Dr Chan delivered a heartwarming speech and presented the Academic Prizes.
Student Performances and Awards
The event began with a warm welcome from our Principal, Mr John Shooter, and the entry of our Year 6 graduates, accompanied by Senior Teacher Ms Emma Nelson.
Next, our school report was presented by students Ethan, Amelie, Molly, and Kippei and this described the events of the past school year. The Principal’s Prize Day Speech, celebrated the achievements of the students, school and graduating students, offering some words of advice for them in particular. Mr Shooter said his speech might last for two hours, but it actually lasted a little less!
The graduation was a formal ceremony with each candidate presented individually before all joined together to move their toggle from left to right and joyfully throw their mortarboards into the air, creating a cherished memory for everyone present. Following this student success in all year groups were celebrated with Achievement Awards presented by the Principal, and Academic Awards presented by our VIP guest, Dr Chan who also addressed the audience.
The final item was the announcement of the results of the House Cup, a spirited competition held throughout the school year where students earn points for academics, behaviour, and outstanding achievements. Congratulations to the West House for this year's triumph!
As a beautiful farewell, the entire school joined together to sing the "Goodbye Song," looking forward to a new and successful school year ahead.
