On 1st April 2025, Oxbridge School proudly hosted the final of annual Inter House Chess Competition that brought together students from all years and is a thrilling and exciting event that every student takes part in. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our young strategists to showcase their skills, engage in friendly rivalry, and deepen their love for this timeless game.

Benefits of Learning Chess for Young Students

At Oxbridge, we believe in the power of chess as an educational tool. Here are three compelling reasons why we promote chess to our students:

Enhances Critical Thinking: Chess encourages players to think critically and make decisions based on strategy and foresight. This invaluable skill translates well into academic subjects, helping students excel in problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Boosts Concentration and Patience: Playing chess requires focus and patience, teaching students to maintain their attention over extended periods. These qualities are essential not just in chess, but in all aspects of learning and daily life.

Encourages Sportsmanship and Respect: Chess instils a sense of respect for opponents and the importance of good sportsmanship. Students learn to handle both victory and defeat gracefully, fostering a positive attitude towards competition.

A Commitment to All Students

At Oxbridge School, we are dedicated to promoting chess for all students, from Year 1 through to secondary levels. Our chess programme not only enhances cognitive skills but also creates a vibrant community where students can connect and learn from one another.

Congratulations to our winner in the Junior Category, Waqar from Year 3, and the winner of our Senior Category Ethan from Year 8. Both showed great commitment and amazing strategy during the event.

We would like to thank all participants for making the Chess Competition a resounding success! Your enthusiasm and sportsmanship were truly inspiring.

We look forward to seeing even more students join us in future chess events, as we continue to nurture strategic minds and lifelong learners at Oxbridge.
